For diagnosis –
1. Complaints about menses (Irregular, heavy flow, early stoppage of menses or delayed menses). In these cases, endometrium is scraped and seen for any histological changes and we can comment on it. We can also see the effect of hormones produced by ovaries on endometrium.
2. Infertility - In older days curattage was done to see the effect of hormones on entometrium. But now we can measure the level of hormones, progesterone & by sonography to monitor ovulation.
3. Before Menopause - to rule out tuberculosis and Cancer.

Local anesthesia (LA) to cervix or for painless procedure general anesthesia(GA) is given. After LA / GA serial dilatation of cervix is done & curette is introduced and endometrium sent for histopathology. The procedure id done in 10min & done pre menstrually 2-3 day prior to menses.
